Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton will start this coming Thursday’s game and play the first three quarters of the game, according to head coach Ron Rivera.
“It will give us an opportunity to see how he’ll handle the whole game experience and we’ll go from there,” Rivera said
Rivera hasn’t yet committed to a starter for the start of the season. But right now most people believe it will ultimately be Newton.
So far neither Newton or second year quarterback Jimmy Clausen have really separated themselves as the hands down starter. So my guess is the Panthers will end up going with the guy they picked first overall in the draft.
