Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that St. Louis Rams cornerback Bradley Fletcher is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in practice during week five of last season. Fletcher participated in the Rams mini-camp last week, although it was on a limited basis.
“I’m ahead of schedule right now and things are going well,” said Fletcher. “My knee’s feeling really good. It’s holding up right now.”
This will be Fletcher’s fourth year with the St. Louis Rams, having been drafted by them in the third round of the 2009 NFL draft. Fletcher’s torn ACL last season was extremely unfortunate as he had a solid campaign the previous year, starting in 15 out of 16 regular season games and racking up 75 total tackles, 11 passes defensed, and 4 interceptions.
The Rams secondary got a lot stronger this off-season with the signing of former Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan. A report by Dan Arkush at ProFootballWeekly.com from earlier this month indicated that a starting job playing at corner opposite Finnegan was far from a slam dunk for Fletcher.
