According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego Chargers wide receiver Robert Meachem confirmed that he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery after this past season.
Meachem had the procedure done in late January and it’s the same knee that ended up being surgically repaired before his rookie season in 2007 due to a torn meniscus.
“I’m still young, so it doesn’t concern me,” Meachem said. “I’m 27. I feel great. Just taking it day by day.”
Meachem said that he “banged his knee during the New Orleans Saints regular season finale against the Carolina Panthers. He never missed any time during the playoffs and ended up catching four passes for 111 yards in the Saints playoff win over the Detroit Lions.
“It kind of flared up on me over the next few games,” Meachem said.
The good news is that Meachem has been fully participating in the Chargers offseason workouts.
