New York Jets owner Woody Johnson was asked if the jobs of head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannbaum are on the line in any way.

“I’m very optimistic,” Johnson told The Newark Star-Ledger.”I’m confident in this organization and this group of young players and experienced players for getting the job done.”

Translation: Let’s see how this season plays out before anyone is on the verge of losing their job.

Johnson did say he’s confident in Ryan.

“In terms of my confidence in him, I’m very confident in Rex Ryan,” he said. “You just have to look at the body of work. It’s unparalleled in our history, what he’s accomplished.”
