As much as I believe the Miami Dolphins would love to sit rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill for the next season or two, in order to allow him to develop, they might be forced to start him right away in 2012.
Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin admitted that there’s no plan that will determine when Tannehill starts. Everything will play itself out on the field in training camp.
“Out there is where we’re going to find out about Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore and David Garrard,” Philbin told SI.com’s Peter King, pointing to the field, via NFL.com. “I don’t remember a master plan that said, ‘Here’s when Ryan’s going to play.’ If there is one, I was never told about it. We’ll let them come to work, and the best man will win.”
Both Moore and Garrard are players that have proven themselves to be viable NFL starting quarterbacks, but if either guy struggles in 2012, the Dolphins and their fans might get a little restless and quickly go to Tannehill.Follow PFZ on Twitter @ProFootballZone
