Will Beatty underwent leg surgery

New York Giants left tackle Will Beatty underwent surgery to repair his broken leg and is expected to be ready for next season.

Beatty had a rough season in 2014 prior to getting injured.  He had a hard time living up to the long-term extension he signed this past offseason.

Beatty has skills. He performed poorly in 2013, but he’s one shy of the least of that line’s worries. LG Boothe is a FA, who may not be back, and even if JR resigns him he’s not a pro bowl caliber player. Center David Baas was a good FA signing from the 49ers, who missed 1 game while in San Fran, then comes to NY and can’t stay on the field, and like Beatty has a fat contract he’s not living up to. RG Chris Snee is on IR again, with hip surgery again, and can barely move — quite a fall for a 4 time pro bowler who John Madden once referred to as one of the best Guards in football. He may be done. David Diehl hasn’t played well in years — in 2011 PFF graded him out as the worst player… in all of football… in the history of PFF grades. He hasn’t gotten better, and a thumb injury thankfully got rookie Justin Pugh in at RT. Coach Coughlin doesn’t play rookies, but Pugh got better and better, and ended up doing quite well. Beatty has to come back and play well, because JR has too many other issues with the interior of that line that must be solved before 2014.
