According to the New York Post, New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker and some of his friends got into a fight with security guards while having their own “bachelor” party Aspen, Colorado, prior to his upcoming wedding. Welker was with six of his friends on Friday night and the fight started when they tried to enter the Patrón tequila-sponsored Summerology event. It’s part of the 30th annual Aspen Food & Wine Classic which was held over this past weekend. Welker reportedly tried to rush into the restaurant Above the Salt without checking in with anyone that was in charge of the party. They were then tackled by security, and witnesses indicated that they still didn’t want to cooperate and demanded to be let in. “Security tried to subdue the group” when a brawl almost broke out, a source told the NY Post. “Security then physically restrained [Welker] and his group to break everything up.” Welker and his group weren’t arrested, but police did threaten to do so. “Security calmed them down and kicked them off the property,” a source told the NY Post. Who knew that Welker was such a “bad” guy (I’m laughing). He’s never done anything like this during his NFL career. Maybe the fact that he’s still waiting for a long-term deal from the Patriots has him on edge a little bit. Either way, it’s a good thing he didn’t end up getting arrested.
