New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker knows that he blew an opportunity to make a big play during Sunday’s Super Bowl loss to the Giants, that could have clinched a win for his team.
“The ball’s right there,” Welker said. “I’ve just got to make the play. I’ve made it a thousand times in practice and everything else. It comes to the biggest moment of my life and [I] don’t come up with it. It’s discouraging.”
“It hit me right in the hands,” Welker said. “I mean, it’s a play I never drop, I always make. Most critical situation and I let the team down.”
Like many people watching last night’s Super Bowl, I was very surprised Welker couldn’t haul the ball in. But, then again it wasn’t a great throw by Brady and Welker wasn’t in a great position to make the play.
