Victor Cruz loses his grandmother, the woman who taught him how to salsa
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz lost his 77-year old grandmother Lucy Molina, this past Monday. She passed away due to a numerous complications that included diabetes.
“Obviously she’s going to be on my mind,” Cruz said today, per the Newark Star-Ledger, “so it’s going to be emotional for me.”
Molina taught Cruz how to salsa, which is now of course his famed touchdown celebration.
“She meant the world to me,” Cruz said. “Besides my mom, she practically raised me. So it’s obviously something tough to go through but you just have to take it in stride. Understand that it was her time to go. And God just wanted another angel up there with him.”
Our prayers go out to Cruz and his family at this time.
