With Adrian Peterson recovering from a torn ACL, Minnesota Vikings running back Toby Gerhart told Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN Radio that he’s looking to have a big role this season.
“I’m looking, going into the season, to have a big role,” said Gerhart.
“I don’t know how big it will be. But I’m looking like I’m going to be the starter from Day 1 and have to be the starter all the way on through until Adrian is back and ready and full-speed. I’m excited about that. I’m ready to embrace that and go out and help this team win and really show people what I can do.”
There’s a really good chance at this point that Gerhart will be the Vikings starter going into the regular season. It’s certainly a job that he can’t take lightly with the absence of Peterson. This might be Gerhart’s only shot to show what he can do as a starter in the NFL and he’ll need to make the most of it.
