Vikings pass defense is steadily improving

Alan Williams improved the Vikings’ pass defense greatly in first year as defensive coordinator in 2012. The Vikings set out to improve their pass defense even more by way of the draft. Minnesota selected one of the best corners of the entire draft class, that being Xavier Rhodes.

Rhodes has already impressed the Vikings coaching staff.

“The one thing, I don’t know how much you watched today but he got his hands on some balls and he’s not giving up deep balls,” Alan Williams said after Wednesday’s practice. “That’s the big thing because a lot of guys like to sit on passes and you see them intercept balls and you say ‘wow’ and then a lot of balls are going over his head. And he’s not giving up either. He’s tough down low and up top.”

Expect Xavier Rhodes to make a significant impact in 2013. And combine that with Alan Williams at defensive coordinator, and the Vikings pass defense should be even better this coming season.
