It is just not the Bills season for QBs. Rookie QB EJ Manuel made some nice plays for the Bills before he suffered an injury that will keep him out for around 8 weeks. His replacement for this week, Thad Lewis, also made some nice plays to take the Bills in to overtime. The second year Lewis was promoted off of the practice squad and did some nice things, it was all good news for the young QB though. Lewis sprained a foot and although x-rays came back negative an MRI has been ordered.
Per a league source, X-rays were indeed negative, but Lewis will have an MRI. With all of the various ligaments and other non-bones in the foot that can be injured in a way that would not show up on an X-ray, it’s still too early to exhale.
The Bills are scheduled to bring in former Raiders QB Matt Flynn for a visit and the results of Lewis’s MRI could make a big difference in whether or not he is signed.
