Even though the Houston Texans claim Matt Schaub is their starter going into next season, it doesn’t mean they won’t select a quarterback in April’s draft.
It certainly sounded like Texans head coach Gary Kubiak left the door open.
“Well, we always look at everything,” Kubiak said in his season-ending press conference on Monday.
Our sources wouldn’t rule out the possibility, pointing to the situations of the 49ers and Seahawks, neither of whom felt they needed a starter when they selected Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson in the second and third rounds, respectively, the past two years.
We hear the Texans would love to have a mobile
QB like one of the two aforementioned rising stars.
With Schaub now in his early 30’s, he is what the is. He’s an above average quarterback that will likely never be able to carry the Texans the way a franchise quarterback needs to. It’s time to look for another long-term solution.
I’m sure if the right quarterback falls to the Texans in the second to fourth round of this year’s draft, they’ll snatch him up.
