Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor indicated in a recent interview with the Contra Costa Times that he understands that Carson Palmer is the starter, but he doesn’t plan on being the back up.
“Carson is the starter and he’s going to be the starter,” said Pryor. ”But I don’t put myself as I’m going to be backup. I mean, I don’t sit around saying, ‘I want to be a backup, that’s what I want to be.’ That’s not how I operate. That’s not how I want to be. I’m going to work to play. And Carson’s always played well and always will. Whenever the opportunity comes for me to play, I’ll play. But I’m not planning to be a back-up. Get that correct.”
I wouldn’t expect Pryor to say anything else, the guy was a star in high school and college and will need to keep working his tail off in order to be a legit NFL quarterback. With the way Palmer played last season, he may end up getting a chance to play this season.
