The San Francisco 49ers have announced that former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens will be an honorary captain this Sunday at Candlestick Park when the Niners take on the Panthers.
Owens will also help celebrate one of the top ten moments at Candlestick, since this is the final season the 49ers will be playing there, since they’re moving into their new stadium in Santa Clara next year.
Owens’ game-winning touchdown catch in a 30-27 playoff win over the Green Bay Packers was selected as the No. 4 greatest moment in Candlestick Park. Owens famously caught a 25-yard touchdown from Steve Young to beat the Green Bay Packers on Jan. 3, 1999 in the NFC Wildcard Playoffs.
Owens played for the 49ers from 1996 to 2003.
