With James Farrior retired following the 2011 season, the Steelers still have yet to fill his void as a leader or a player.
The Steelers expect Lawrence Timmons to become more of a leader in 2013. Pittsburgh expects more out of Timmons in the upcoming season.
Timmons believes he is more than ready to step up:
“I look at myself as a game-changer, and I try to make that a facet of my game,” Timmons said. “I look forward to those opportunities, because I want to live up to those expectations. I have to assert myself in a certain way. I don’t feel as if I have to force anything. I just have to play my game.”
