According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as Steelers safety Ryan Clark enters the final year of his current contract, his agent and the Steelers haven’t started to work on a new contract just yet.
Ryan Clark told me the team and his agent are not currently in negotiations to extend his contract, which expires this year. He’s hopeful that will occur around training camp time but if not….
“I still play, I still love this game, I want to be here and I want this team to do well.”
Clark will turn 34 during the season. Even with Shamarko Thomas, the Steelers are not prepared to lose both Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark in 2014, although plenty can happen between now and then. Clark has had some of his best seasons lately and it’s reasonable to think that he could play at a good level another few years.
