According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers might place the franchise tag on wide receiver Mike Wallace.
Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert indicated that getting Wallace signed to a long-term deal is their priority.
Wallace is clearly the Steelers most explosive play maker on offense and they need to make sure they’re able to keep him around for the long haul.
Wallace recorded his second straight season with at least 1,000 yards receiving. He ended up with 72 receptions for 1,193 and 8 touchdowns in 2011.
