In the case of the Cleveland Browns and newly-acquired defensive tackle, Brodrick Bunkley, it is a simple example of better late than never.
Six years later to be precise.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Cleveland Browns have acquired defensive tackle, Brodrick Bunkley from Philadelphia for a fifth-round pick in 2012.
The former 14th overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2006, was made expendable after the Eagle’s signed free agent defensive tackle, Cullen Jenkins.
In Cleveland he will most likely compete for a starting spot in Cleveland’s defensive line alongside defensive tackles Ahtyba Rubin, rookie Phil Taylor and rookie defensive end, Jabbal Sheeard.
In 2010, Bunkley played through an elbow injury and started in five games. For his career, the 6’2 306-pound has 144 total tackles, 33 and six sacks.
Cleveland was originally rumored to be interested in drafting Bunkley out of Florida State during the 2006 NFL Draft, The Browns would select his former teammate, Kamerion Wimbley—now of the Oakland Raiders—instead.
For Cleveland, it hopes that waiting six years to—finally land—Bunkley is not too late.
