Sean Payton, Joe Vitt to appeal suspensions, Gregg Williams won’t

According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton plans on appealing his year-long suspension, which will also buy him some time as he continues to scramble to put his coaching staff in the best position they can be in for the 2012 season.  He’ll also continue to work on potentially putting Bill Parcells in the position to coach the Saints, on an interim basis.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt will appeal his six game suspension.  There’s also the chance that he’s named the Saints interim head coach even though he’ll be serving a suspension.

Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network has reported that St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has gone the opposite route of both Payton and Vitt and has decided to not appeal his indefinite suspension.
