The Seattle Seahawks have announced that they’ve released wide receiver Mike Williams.

“We would like to thank Mike for his contributions over the past two seasons and we wish him well in the future,” said Seahawks GM John Schneider.

Williams was able to get his career on track in 2010 after a rough start after being drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2005.  Last season he struggled with injuries and the Seahawks now have plenty of guys that can come in and contribute.  They simply don’t need him anymore, and from what I’ve heard he’s had a hard time keeping his weight under control this offseason.
