Many people are surprised at how unimpressive Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon has looked so far during his rookie year.
One NFL scout told Albert Breer of the NFL Network that Blackmon lacks the explosiveness and quickness to be an NFL wide receiver.
“(Blackmon has) really hurt Gabbert,” one scout told NFL Network’s Albert Breer. “I’m not sure his speed, or lack thereof, translates to the pro game – he can’t beat press man coverage. He’s just not explosive or quick enough.”
Blackmon has been targeted 54 times and has recorded 23 receptions for 225 yards and one touchdown. Not very good for a top five draft pick.
