New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan told the New York Post that Santonio Holmes may not be ready to get back on the field until their regular season opener.
“The main thing is, I just hope he’s ready for opening day,” Ryan said. “That’s going to be the goal. We’ll lean on [trainer] John Mellody, and I have all the confidence in the world that he’ll get him right.”
Holmes underwent foot surgery back in October and he’s already indicated that he doesn’t plan on running until April, which means he’ll probably be held out of the Jets’ spring workout program.
