According to Dan Parr of ProFootballWeekly.com, the New Orleans plan on going with a running back by committee approach as they kick off the 2012 NFL season this Sunday.
“The Saints are firmly committed to a committee approach with Ingram serving in what will mostly be a three-pronged attack. Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles will continue to play major roles, and Chris Ivory and undrafted rookie Travaris Cadet will be involved, albeit to a lesser extent, when they are active on game day,” wrote Parr.
The reason the Saints are likely not going with one running back is because none of them can stay healthy. Both Thomas and Ingram have had injury problems over the past few seasons.
