Saints claim they don’t plan on releasing Jonathan Vilma

Just last night the New Orleans Saints signed free agent linebacker Curtis Lofton to a five-year deal.

According to Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints have quickly come out and denied that they’ll release veteran linebacker Jonathan VIlma.

“(Vilma) is still a big part of our team. A top player and leader for us,” Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said, per the TImes-Picayune.

There is the chance that Vilma could end up being suspended for his role in the Saints bounty scandal, which might be why they added Lofton.
