According to Peter King of SI.com, despite the New Orleans Saints current crisis with the ongoing bounty investigation, it won’t help bring a resolution to quarterback Drew Brees’ contract dilemma.
The Saints placed the franchise tag on Brees since both sides were unable to work out a new deal. Since then Brees has made it clear that he’s not happy and there’s a chance he could end up holding out.
When the NFL laid the hammer down on Saints, there was some thought that the punishments that the NFL handed down to the them would force them to sign quarterback Drew Brees to a long-term extension because of his leadership, since head coach Sean Payton will be out for the next year due to his suspension. Now it looks like that won’t be the case.Follow PFZ on Twitter @ProFootballZone
