Mathews missed practice time last week too but racked up 144 yards in the Chargers win versus Kansas City on Sunday to earn the team’s playoff bid. He is expected to play this week as well.
If Mathews is forced to miss the game, the Chargers’ explosive offense will take a big hit. Mathews finally looks like the player the Chargers thought they were going to get when they traded up in the first round of the 2010 draft to select him.
Receiver Eddie Royal also missed practice on Wednesday. Defensive linemen Kendall Reyes and Sean Lissemore were limited participants.
