Ryan Mathews practices for the Chargers

According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chargers running back Ryan Mathews was back at practice today.

“Mathews returned to practice Monday, catching passes out of the backfield in individual drills during the 20-minute period open to media.

“The extent to which Mathews participated Monday is unclear; however, it’s the first time he’s practiced since breaking his clavicle Aug. 9 on his first career of the preseason,” wrote Gehlken.

This doesn’t mean Mathews is ready to play in a game, but it is a good sign he’ll be ready soon.
