When the Cincinnati Bengals were on the clock with the 27th overall pick during the first round of last night’s NFL draft, Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu received a call from someone claiming to be the Bengals. He was notified that they would be selecting him. And once he got the news, everyone at his draft party erupted with excitement. Sanu’s agent Mike McCarthy even tweeted that he was going to be a Bengal. Then of course the Bengals drafted Wisconsin offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler.
“This is a great kid, I guarantee you, and someone played a cruel joke on him,” McCartney said. “It is unreal that someone would do that, but it happened,” said McCarthy.
Sanu reportedly told McCarthy to not worry about it and that he’ll probably get picked on Friday.
That has to be one of the most cruel pranks I’ve ever heard of. You have to wonder if it was done by someone who hates Sanu or a buddy having fun with him. If it’s a buddy, I’m sure he’ll soon realize that wasn’t funny.Follow PFZ on Twitter @ProFootballZone
