During his Monday press conference, Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has confirmed that running back Roy Helu is the full time starter now.
“He’s our starter, for sure,” said Shanahan.
Helu has had a very impressive rookie season so far and it makes sense to put the ball in his hands since the Redskins don’t many play makers on offense. He’s got the versatility to catch the ball out of the back field as well as run between the tackles.
Helu has 74 carries for 356 yards, which is an average of 4.8 yards per carry. Not bad at all for a rookie on a team with a bad offensive line.
