Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Rothlisberger is all for free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress coming back to the Steelers where he was drafted back in 2000. Rothlisberger met with the Pittsburgh media on Tuesday and spoke up regarding his support for Burress.
“I’ve talked to Plax a number of times in the last couple of weeks,” Roethlisberger said. “I told him, ‘Hey, if you came back here that would be awesome, but I’m just happy to see you playing again’ because he’s a good guy.”
Rothlisberger and Burress played together for one season in Pittsburgh before Burress hit free agency and ended up signing with the New York Giants.
The Steelers are loaded with young talent at receiver with Mike Wallace, Emanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown. But the addition of a player like Burress who is deceptively fast with his 6’5″ frame would take a lot of pressure off of the Steelers running game.
