Dallas Cowboys great, Roger Staubach ended up speaking with KTCK-AM’s Norm Hitzges on Monday and said that he thinks people don’t realize how good Tony Romo is.
“One of the most important things a quarterback can do is transfer the confidence he has to his teammates so everybody can believe in each other,” said Staubach. “You can’t do it by yourself. It’s really a mystery to me why people don’t understand how really good (Tony Romo) is. The things he can do and the plays he can make, I’m sure Troy (Aikman) would say the same. I think this team is building to support a great quarterback like Romo. If your defense is doing a great job, you can do a lot of things on offense.”
Staubach believes the pressure gets to Romo.
“I think it wears on him because he’s such competitor. He works really hard. His teammates love him. He’s got to continue to get more out of his teammates and that’s his job too and he knows that.”
I think Romo has a load of talent, but until he proves me wrong, I don’t believe he’s clutch enough to win big games that go down to the wire.
