Rex Ryan rips Quinton Coples’ work ethic

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan recently blasted linebacker Quinton Coples over his work ethic in the weight room.

“If Quinton doesn’t do a better job in the weight room he might have to…he’s got to compete like anybody else for a job,” said Ryan, per the New York Daily News. “So I’m a little disappointed in Q in the weight room in the last day.”

Ryan has high expectations for Coples.

“He’s been doing great, but any time I’ve got a chance to get him, I’m going to,” said Ryan. “I expect so much for him, if he lets up a little bit we’re going to make sure he knows about it.”

Ryan clearly expected more out of Coples after selecting him in the first round of the 2012 draft.  He had an OK rookie year with 30 tackles and 5.5 sacks.  I’m sure the Jets are expecting him to improve a lot this year.
