According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, during his interview with Cardinals owner Mike Bidwell, Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley told him what he needed to become their head coach. It’s been reported that he set his asking price very high so he would be turned down and able to remain in Pittsburgh.
Haley is happy in his role as offensive coordinator with the Steelers and doesn’t want to leave unless an offer is almost too good to pass up. He has a nice relationship with Cardinals owner Mike Bidwill, going back to his days as the team’s offensive coordinator under Coach Ken Whisenhunt.
But he has repeated many times how happy he is to be working with the Steelers and back living in the area where he grew up. Haley’s dad, Dick, was the Steelers’ long-time director of player personnel who helped build the franchise’s first four Super Bowl teams.
