According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Houston Texans have traded Pro Bowl linebacker DeMeco Ryans to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles are sending the Texans a mid-round pick in return for Ryans. Sounds like a good deal for both teams.
The trade will become official on Wednesday when Ryans undergoes a physical.
The reason I could think of why the Texans decided to trade Ryans is because he wasn’t a great fit in defensive coordinator Wade Phillips’ 3-4 defensive scheme.
The trade will become official on Wednesday when Ryans undergoes a physical.
Ryans had 64 tackles and 1 forced fumble in 2011.
Update: Per Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the Texans received a 4th round pick in return for Ryans and both teams swapped third round picks.
