According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, Jeremy Shockey is determined to do something about Warren Sapp’s accusations that he was the whistleblower in the bountygate scandal.
Shockey reportedly missed a scheduled appearance on the Dan Patrick Show in order to meet with multiple lawyers so he can put together a plan on how they’re gong to deal with Warren Sapp’s recent comments.
“He’s hell bent on doing something,” the source said of Shockey’s intentions, per ProFootballTalk.com.
Shockey might be inclined to file a law suit against Sapp for simply attempting to ruin his reputation. But that could also hurt his chances at signing with a team for next season.

Even if Jeremy Shockey was, in fact, one of the sources which helped facilitate the league’s investigation regarding “Bountygate,” it was an unbelievably stupid move on Warren Sapp’s part to broadcast this on national television.
A. Roger Goodell said there were “multiple sources” which fueled the invesitgation.
B. It is against league policy for anyone working for the NFL to out a snitch.
Sapp has never been accused of being a rocket scientist. But this time, running his mouth is probably going to cost him dearly.
I’m not a lawyer … is it liable if Sapp accurately reported what he had been told? It is definitely libelous if he KNEW that what he was report was wrong. News folks report incorrect info every day … I find it hard to believe they are all liable for any incorrect info that goes out on the air UNLESS they could somehow prove it was intentionally reported incorrectly, with the intent of harming someone.
Maybe a lawyer can give us the straight story???
What you are referring to is whether or not there is malice.
from Wikipedia:
There are several ways a person must go about proving that libel has taken place. For example, in the United States, the person first must prove that the statement was false. Second, that person must prove that the statement caused harm. And, third, they must prove that the statement was made without adequate research into the truthfulness of the statement. These steps are for an ordinary citizen. In the case of a celebrity or public official trying to prove libel, they must prove the first three steps, and must (in the United States) prove the statement was made with the intent to do harm, or with reckless disregard for the truth. Usually specifically referred to as “proving malice”
It’s not liable that sapp has to worry about- its the fact that sapp, an NFL employee outed another nfl employee for reporting unsafe work practices. That’s illegal. And definitely sue-able.
It is very important that Warren Sapp have
a common friend immediately try to appease
Shockley and apologize. The fact that he has
yet to do so will bite him in the wallet.
He should swallow his pride and simply
state that he reported unvetted facts and that
he is not in the business of reporting news but
analyzing football.
Interesting to note that Warren Sapp received a slap on the wrist for his actions from the NFL network. I guess the NFL network didn’t want to start a race riot ending with innercities being burned to the ground again. Double standard at best, Hypocrisy at least.
Good for Mr. Shockey.
sapp is gonna regret this big time.
shockey’s a punk *** snitch! so sue me!
warren sapp and people like him are why the USA is in such ****. EVEN IF it was shockey. HE would have been doing THE RIGHT THING> this explains unsolved murders. and gang rapes with no wittnesses. PATHETIC!!!!! grow up SAPP. you should be fired for being that stupid.
He who has nothing to hide shows his hand to the worl. SUIT WARREN SAPP so you can stop all that diahrrea coming forth every time he opens his mouth.
