According to ESPN’s Ed Werder via Rotoworld.com, the New Orleans Saints have “resumed dialogue” with quarterback Drew Brees and his representatives, in order to try to hammer out a long-term contract.

“I’m told by a source close to the stalemate in negotiations that dialogue between Saints GM Mickey Loomis and Tom Condon, the agent for Brees, has resumed, but so far has not resulted in any substantial progress,” Werder said.

Both the Saints and Brees’ reps are believed to be roughly $2 million apart in their negotiations.  There’s belief that Brees isn’t willing to budge, since nothing is guaranteed and this will likely be his final NFL contract.
