According to the Associated Press via ESPN.com, the New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees remain $10 million apart with regards to the guaranteed part of his new potential contract.
If both sides can come to some sort of agreement before Monday’s deadline, it’s believed that Brees would receive roughly a five-year $100 million contract.
During tonight’s ESPY awards show, Brees indicated that he remains optimistic that something will get done. Once again he’s trying to put the pressure on the Saints to give in a little more.
Both sides understand how critical it is to get this deal done, so it’ll be interesting to see if they’re to close the gap.
