According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the Washington Redskins plan on placing the franchise tag on tight end Fred Davis.
Davis along with left tackle Trent Williams were suspsended for the final four games of the NFL season because they failed drug tests that were administered by the NFL. If Davis and Williams fail anymore tests in the future, they will be suspended for a full year.
Davis had a breakout season in 2011 when he was forced to step in as the starter once fellow tight end Chris Cooley ended up on season ending injured reserve.
Davis finished the season with 59 receptions for 796 yards and 3 touchdowns.
