Report: Redskins wanted to draft Russell Wilson

ESPN’s Adam Schefter made an appearance on The Sports Fix on ESPN 980 in Washington D.C. and indicated that the Redskins would have drafted Seahwks quarterback Russell Wilson over Kirk Cousins if he was available when they selected Cousins in the fourth round of last April’s draft.

“If Russell would have been there, he would have been the pick,” said Schefter.

Kevin Sheehan of ESPN 980 wanted to confirm what Schefter was saying and asked him if Wilson would have been available in the fourth round if the Redskins would have taken him.

“That’s correct. Yeah if Russell Wilson was there he would have been the pick in the fourth round,” said Schefter.

It really would have been a shame if Wilson would have gone to Washington instead of Seattle, because there’s no way he’d be starting ahead of Robert Griffin III.
