Report: Packers, Sam Shields talking about a long-term deal

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Sam Shields are talking about getting a long-term done.

Shields and the Packers are talking, we’re told, about a long-term deal.  For now, nothing is imminent — and definitely not as imminent as the looming long-term contracts that apparently will soon be signed by quarterback Aaron Rodgers and linebacker Clay Matthews.

The Packers ended up placing a second round tender on Shields this offseason, since he’s a restricted free agent.

Shields recorded 28 tackles and 3 interceptions in 2012.
