Over the past few months there have been reports that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been looking for a new deal that will pay him over $21 million per year.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, Brees has never demanded $21 million. There have even been some people who’ve stated that he’s been looking for up to $23 million per season.
It wouldn’t be a surprised at all if the reports that have thrown around have been inflating a result of inflation. Brees did say last month that this could a possibility.
“I would say that the numbers that have been thrown around by ESPN and some of these other places, at times, have been pretty heavily inflated,”
Right now there’s some belief that the Saints have been offering Brees between $18 and $19 million per season. It’s really confusing as to why a deal hasn’t gotten done. Maybe Saints general manager Mickey Loomis is too busy scouting NBA prospects.
