Report: NFLPA wants Patriots’ doctor to step down

According to ESPNBoston.com, the NFLPA has filed a grievance against the New England Patriots asking for team doctor Thomas Gill to step down.

The grievance comes as a possible knee-jerk reaction from former Patriot Jonathan Fanene. The team filed a grievance against Fanene in an attempt to recoup a $3.85 million signing bonus. The team released Fanene last August with a “failure to disclose physical condition” designation.

The NFLPA believes Gill wasn’t acting in the best interest of Fanene.

Fanene is also the team physician for the Boston Bruins and formerly of the Boston Red Sox.

A similar situation happened with the Chargers and their former team doctor David Chao. The team opted not to go along with the NFLPA. Chao ended up stepping down for his own personal reasons.
