According to Peter King of SI.com, the NFL’s competition comittee will consider banning all blocks below the waist starting next season.
Just reported on @NBCSN that NFL's Competition Committee will consider abolition of ALL blocks below the waist in 2013.

The NFL should have banned blocks below the waist a long time ago. Multiple players have gone down with season ending injuries after low blocks this season. One great example is when Texans linebacker Brian Cushing suffered a torn ACL after receiving a cut block at the knees against the Jets earlier this season.
