According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace is ready to sit out OTA’s and part of training camp. He reportedly told someone within the organization that he doesn’t plan on signing his restricted free agent tender ”until he has to.”
Wallace desires a long-term contract that will pay him like one of the NFL’s premiere receivers, and he’s unhappy about the $2.7 million first-round tender that was placed on him.
If Wallace doesn’t sign the tender by June 15th the Steelers can cut the tender to $577,500, which would cause him to lose $2.1 million in 2012.
