According to FOX 5 in Atlanta, Falcons owner Arthur Blank has informed top city council officials that business interests in Los Angeles have contacted him about moving his team to the nation’s second largest media market.
Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed is trying to push his city towards helping the Falcons fund a new stadium so they’re not tempted to skip town.
Reed called in council members one at a time to tell them that the city needs to take a more aggressive lead in the public financing portion of the proposed open air stadium.
Earlier, Gov. Nathan Deal said the climate at the state Capitolwould not be favorable for the state to take the lead.
Council members also reported the mayor described Blank as being willing to increase the percentage the Falcons might pay to make the billion dollar deal possible.
At the end of the day, a team like the Falcons would thrive in a market like Los Angeles. Atlanta better take care of their football team.
