According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the Detroit Lions plan on releasing 34 year-old defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch.
The 34-year-old defensive end has been informed he’ll be released, according to a person informed of the impending roster move. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the move was not official. The person was unsure when the move will be completed.
Vanden Bosch’s release won’t be a stunner. He has three seasons remaining on his current contract but only because he restructured last season. His base salary for 2013 is slated to be $5 million. He has two more years at $8 million in base salary.
With Vanden Bosch only recording 16 sacks over the past three years, I imagine that his NFL career is over.
