According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Detroit Lions are in preliminary talks with quarterback Mathew Stafford’s agent to get a contract extension completed.
Per source, Lions have had some preliminary talks with QB Matthew Stafford on a contract extension. Nothing pressing at this point.

The Lions currently have $7 million in cap room and Stafford accounts for $20 million of their cap for 2013. If they can give him an extension, it would free up more money, which could potentially help them sign Reggie Bush in free agency.
