Report: Kyle Shanahan is the reason Mike Shanahan wants out in Washington D.C.

According to NBC 4 in Washington D.C., Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is the driving force behind his father, head coach Mike Shanahan wanting out.

There’s reason to believe that Kyle Shanahan is what is driving Mike Shanahan to want out as head coach of the Washington Redskins, a couple of strong sources within the organization told News4 Sports.

Kyle Shanahan’s role in the organization as offensive coordinator may be putting the head coach in a position where he has to choose between his son and his job.

Sources told us that the coach is not being fired Tuesday and will be at practice Wednesday when the team begins work for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

It sounds like Kyle doesn’t like the direction his offense is going into with Robert Griffin III under center.

Former Redskin Chris Cooley told CBS Sports radio tonight that he believes Mike Shanahan is ready to cut ties with RG3. If this is true, I’m sure Kyle is the reason why he no longer wants Griffin as his quarterback.

This would also explain why Mike Shanahan may end up going with Kirk Cousins as his starter for the remainder of the season.

The same Kyle Shanahan who stood on a table for Jon Beck when in Houston? Sounds a bit cocky for a young unproven OC.

Always thought he was and maybe just maybe the calls are not right for what we have on the field…I have noticed that it seems as thought RGIII is being held back, and yes RGIII has gotten a little cocky himself, but you can’t expect a sprinter to run the mile event and be successful.

What flaky fans we have and it means nothing to hear some of the comments this year. Last year was a blessing and we saw what a new not seen QB could do to defenses did not know him. This year, we saw how defenses shut him down and made him look bad. It happens, and that is why coaches have to be innovative and disguise plays, throw a few new wrinkles in the game and adapt to the defense. The redskins have had a set back. They will survive and they will do better, so will RGIII
