What could have been doesn’t matter at this moment for the San Francisco 49ers, who will stay in this weekend and study their potential opponents for their home game on January 12. Behold 49ers fans, there is good news.
Defensive lineman Justin Smith was in uniform today for the first time since injuring his triceps on December 16.
According to blogger Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Smith wore a plastic brace over his left arm and warmed up with fellow defensive linemen.
Smith, wearing a plastic brace over his left arm, warmed up with his fellow defensive linemen and went through individual drills. It was the defensive lineman’s first on-field injury since partially tearing his triceps tendon in the third quarter against New England.
Without the Pro Bowler right defensive end, the 49ers defense appeared a bit deflated in their outing in Seattle and against the Arizona Cardinals in their last game at home.
With an extra week of rest, San Francisco who’s been stout against the run all season, will be a lot more confident to stop either Alfred Morris, Marshawn Lynch, or Alex Green of the Green Bay Packers – thanks to the presence of Justin Smith.
